in West Bromwitch, UKRobert's first band was called the "Delta Blues Band". He had gone to school to become an acountant, but ended up leaving to join a group called the "Crawling King Snakes". He would end up forming three groups, all with the same name, "Band of Joy". The last group, had John Bonham in it, and he later introduced John to led zeppelin when Robert was only 18 years old. When Robert joined led zeppelin, he was still under a contract, and therefore all of the credit of their first album went to Jimmy Page. When led zeppelin II came out, Robert got his chance to make his own songs, and play around with differnt vocal effects. In 1968, Robert married Maureen. They went on to have three children. Nine years later, they would lose their first son, Karac, to a respiratory virus.Robert studied Celtic and other ancient civilizations. For me I like Otis Redding and his Setting On The Dock Of The Bay. Bring those grand old summers back to me. That and a real hard head banger like Mississippi Queen done by Ozzy or Jim Dandy by Black Oak Arkansas. I go back to the BOA concerts I always made sure I got to and the unmentionable experiences I had back in the 60's. | | What is that one song that just blows your mind? | | I absolutely love listening to anything by The Doors. The one song that can take me to another place is 'the end'. It takes me on a journey and makes me feel a whole host of emotions. The crusendo at the end is fantatic. I can be any kind of mood and this song always seems appropriate! The first guitar solo I've learned that time was 'Wonderful Tonight' by guitar legend 'Eric Clapton'... & I was growing up during the late 80's & early 90's... Bands w/ great guitar player have started to get into my system & incorporated a lot of style in me... Notable guitarist are Van Halen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Dimebag Darell, Marty Friedman, Kirk Hammet, Paul Gilbert, Nuno Bettencourt & the one that really amaze me is Mr. John Petrucci from the band 'Dream Theater'.So what about you guys... | | Tool cover of Led Zeppelin | | I just recently heard Tool's cover of Led Zeppelins "No Quarter" and thought it was absolutely magnificent. Listen to it with headphones, and try to say that it isn't a masterpiece. I still prefer the original but Tool's totally different method of developing the melody is insane and very interesting. Many of you guys no that they are a very talented band. The question is: Do they have what it takes to become a legendary band.To become one of those bands that people will talk about even when they areey gone or haven't released a work?In my opinion i think they will become a great band.
